Hawaiian Doughnuts
This project is in the recipe tinkering stage of development & is shaping up nicely.
The sweet range features classics (Tongan vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate truffle, strawberry + cream, passion fruit) & seasonal specials, glazed + filled with tropical fruit & ice cream. All freshly handcrafted with the finest ingredients, as you would expect.
The doughnuts are based on malasadas, a fried pastry brought to Hawaii by immigrants from the Azores & Madeira. In 1952, Leonard’s Bakery in Honolulu specialised in malasadas, popularising the delicious, light & fluffy, rolled in sugar, soul food staple of the islands.
Hawaiian Doughnuts, ice cream + Kona coffee, being served in London soonish, ALOHA from hell-yeah.
